AEP Ohio

The AEP Ohio utility company serves 1,465,991 residential electricity customers in various regions throughout Ohio.  The deregulation of electricity in Ohio has changed AEP from a full service electricity company (generation, transmission, and distribution) to just a transmission and distribution company. As Ohio’s largest electricity utility company AEP Ohio customers have the most options to choose from in the competitive market as more electricity companies are offering their service in the region compared to the other Ohio service areas.

AEP is now only in the business of delivering electricity to their customers at delivery charges (distribution rates) that are regulated by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.

AEP does not profit from the supply charges (generation) of the electricity bill.  However, they are mandated to offer default service, the price to compare, to customers who do not choose a competitive Ohio electricity supplier.  Currently there are electricity supply companies who are offering rates below the AEP Ohio price to compare default rate. By selecting a rate lower than the price to compare rate you will see savings on your monthly AEP Ohio electric bill
